(More customer reviews)We got this dehumidifier for our 1400 square foot basement, and put it in the unfinished section which is about 650 sq ft. We leave the door open going into the finished area so that it can hopefully remove some of the moisture in there as well, although they say that it can't really work through walls or door opening. You sort of need one per room. This dehumidifier collects so much water that we can hardly keep up with emptying it out. within hours of turning it on you could feel the difference in the air, and the container was full. There is also a direct drain option if you would rather let the water drain outside instead of in the container, and then you don't have to worry about emptying it. It doesn't overflow because there is a safety feature to shut it off when the water gets to a certain level. We love our Danby!
